As Radio Manav Rachna 107.8 FM celebrated ‘Suron ka Utsav 2016’ with  auditions on the first day, it went beyond convention, and broke new grounds by calling upon citizens of Faridabad to participate in the Swachhta mission and make Faridabad green and pollution-free. That Ms Sonal Goyal,  IAS Commissioner MCF was the Chief Guest on this special occasion, made the first day of the Festival all the more meaningful. The Festival, a singing competition, is being organized by Radio Manav Rachna 107.8 FM on 5th and 6th November, 2016. While the auditions are being held on 5th November, the Finals will be held on 6th November, 2016. The aim has been to provide a perfect platform for Faridabad’s singers to showcase their prodigious talent.

Welcoming the Chief Guest and participants at the event, Dr N.C. Wadhwa, Vice Chancellor, Manav Rachna International University said, “The Music Festival is a celebration of the dreams and vision of our Founder Visionary Dr O.P. Bhalla who had started the Community radio station with the aim of giving a ‘voice’ to the people of Faridabad. And while the Music Festival will bring many talented singers to the fore who will no doubt win prizes and recognition, what matters ultimately is the spirit of participation.” Inaugurating the event, Ms Sonal Goyal said, “Music is the soul of life. It is a medium which brings people of all age groups together. I am happy to note that this Competition has made age no bar and would give an opportunity to Faridabad’s citizens to showcase their hidden talent.”

Ms Goyal also solicited co-operation from the gathering to keep Faridabad clean and green and actively participate in the ‘Sabke saath sahar ke vikas’ initiative. With Faridabad district being declared as an ODF (Open defecation free) zone, she expressed hope that Faridabad city too would in the next few months acquire a similar status. It maybe recalled that Manav Rachna has in the past adopted the Faridabad Railway station and undertaken regular cleanliness missions. Therefore, it was but natural to designate a Signature Wall and Selfie wall for sensitizing people at the event. Ms Sonal Goyal’s memorable words on the signature wall read: “Lets all contribute to make Faridabad City Swachh and Green and Clean’. Her words will no doubt make a huge impact at the Festival.

The Competition at the Festival had as its judges fastest pianist of the world Dr Aman Bathla and Chandana Kapoor, HOD (Music), MRIS Charmwood,
